Akhil Akkineni was born on 8 April 1984 to Akkineni Nagarjuna and Akkineni Amala. Both of his parents are into the Telugu film industry and well known to most of them. His grandfather is Akkineni Nageswar Rao who was a great actor. His half brother is Akkineni Naga Chaitanya who is also an actor. Samantha Akkineni, one of the popular heroine is his sister in law.

Akhil first film entry as a child in the movie Sisindri in 1995 when he was one year toddler. Before making his first debut movie he performed a Cameo in Manam movie in 2015, in which Akkineni heroes acted. Later he acted in Akhil, Hello, Mr.Majnu, and Akhil 4.
