Biography:

Ahuti Prasad was an Indian character actor who worked in the Telugu film industry in a wide variety of roles including father roles, antagonists, and comedian plays. He mostly appeared in over 150 films in his career span. He got the title Ahuti in front of his name because of the memorable role he played in the film Ahuti. His last movie Rudrama Devi was under the production phase when he passed away.

Ahuti Prasad's real name is Adusumilli Janardhana Vara Prasad. He was born on 2 January 1958 in koduru, Krishna District in Andhra Pradesh. His father is A.Ranga Rao and his mother is Hymavathi. He got married to Vijaya Nirmala and both had two sons Bharani Prasad and Karthik Prasad. Prasad’s family shifted to Raichur in Karnataka state in his childhood. Since his college days, he developed an interest in the acting field. After his Btech, he joined the film institute of veteran director V.Madhusudhan Rao in Hyderabad.

Career life:

He started his career with a movie Vikram which was directed by V.madhusudhan Rao. Later he worked as an assistant director under Madhusudhan Rao for the movie Malle Moggalu. Onsets, Shyam Prasad saw him and offered a role in the movie Ahuti which gave him the biggest break. His character in father shade is much famous in movies like Malliswari, Bendu Apparao RMP, Kotha Bangaru Lokam, Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu.

He also served as a General Secretary of MAA(movies artist association). He died on 4 January 2015 due to colon cancer which couldn’t be identified till his final stage. He passed away while the treatment was in process. He passed away before the release of his last three movies.

Awards:

He won Nandi Award in 2002 in Best Villain category for the movie Nenu Ninu Premisthunanu. In 2007 he won second Nandi Award for the best character Actor award for the movie Chandamama.
