Biography:
Mahesh Babu is an Indian actor, Media personality, producer, and Philanthropist popularly known for his works in Telugu Cinema. He has been one of the most attractive male celebrities in India. He is referred to as a Prince of the Tollywood is one of the most influential and popular actors of Tolly Wood. Apart from acting, he is also an active humanitarian and philanthropist running a charitable trust and non-profit organization to heal a child. He is a goodwill ambassador for Rainbow Hospitals.

Mahesh born to Super Star Krishna and Smt. Indira Devi on 9 August 1975. His elder brother is Ramesh babu Ghattamaneni who is an actor turned producer. He has two elder sisters Padmavathi and Manjula and one younger sister Priyadarshini. He spent his total childhood with his parental grandmother in Chennai. He completed his schooling from St.Bede’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, Chennai. He studied in Loyola College, Chennai, and completed his Bachelor of Commerce.

He got married to Namrata Shirodkar who is an actress. They are blessed with one boy Gautam Krishna and one daughter Sitara. His wife is two and a half years older than him. His stepmother Vijay Nirmala, Step Brother Naresh. His sister Padmavati got married to Galla Jaydev who is TDP Minister. His sister Priyadarshini got married to Hero Sudheer Babu.
He used to act as a child artist in holidays. After completing his graduation he met with director L.Satyanand in Visakhapatnam for further training in action.

Early Career:
In 1979, few sequences of Mahesh Babu were taken by the Director Dasari Narayana Rao in the film Needa which marked his debut as a child artist. He acted as a child artist in Shankaravam(1987), Bazar Rowdy (1988), Mugguru Kodukulu (1988), Gudachari 117(1989). In 1989, he played a dual role in Koduku Diddina Kapuram. His other childhood movies are Bala Chandrulu (1990), Anna Thammudu (1990).
In 1999 his first debut as a lead character released Raja kumarudu which is directed by K.Raghavendra Rao. From that movie, people started calling him Prince. It was a commercial hit. He also received Nandi Award for Best Male Debut. Yuvaraju and Vamsi were average running movies at the box office. Next Krishna Vamsi's Murari was the biggest hit and his character in that movie played an important role in his career. He says the role he played in Murari is one of the favorite roles he played. He earned Nandi Special Jury Award for this movie. In 2002 Takkari Donga and Bobby were very poorly performed at the box office.

Success (2004 to till)
Manjula’s Nani co-staring Amish Patel was a flop but the Tamil version was a super hit at the box office. He gained Nandi Special Jury Award for his action in Arjun movie directed by Guna Shekar and produced by Ramesh. Both Manjula and Mahesh were in a deep depression after the failure of Nani. Later he chose to act in Athadu which has been approved back before the production of Nani and Arjun. Athadu was a super-duper hit. It became one of the highest-grossing films of the year. It is the benefited film for Mahesh Babu which brought him a Nandi Best Actor Award for his performance. In 2006 Pokiri with the highest-grossing Telugu film of all time and screened at 7th IIFA Awards held in Dubai. For the second time, he won the Filmfare award for his understated performance in this film. This movie grossed 67 crores at the box office. The same year Sainikudu released with many expectations but flopped at the box office. Athidhi film produced by his brother Ramesh and UTV motion pictures acquired the film distribution rights for the huge amount of 185 million which is the first Telugu film venture.
For Trivikram’s film jalsa he provided a voice-over. He took some break and later he signed for Khaleja which got mixed reviews.

Career set back:
In 2011 Dookudu had the largest opening for a Telugu film and is the biggest box office hit. He won the best actor award in the Nandi Awards ceremony in 2012 for his performance. He also won film fare awards for his performance. This film crossed 1 billion marks and rumor spread around that he is taking 1.2million for his next projects and income tax officers raid their house at that time.
Businessmen also received praise from critics. Mahesh also stoles a comedian role and he plays it straight. This movie became one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of the year. Later Seethamma vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu co-starring Venkatesh along Samantha and Anjali became the box office hit. It became the first Telugu multi starrer film in the last twenty-five years. Nenokkadine film received mixed reviews from critics. Aagadu was a flop at the box office. Srimanthudu opened to positive reviews and was a commercial hit. This movie gained him a film fare best actor award. He acted in a bilingual film Brahmotsavam but criticized by the public due to the lack of proper story. Spyder was also an average hit directed by A.R.Murugudas. later he chose a political thriller Bharath Ane Nenu which became the biggest blockbuster making the fifth highest-grossing Telugu movie of all time. Maharshi directed by Sandeep reddy Vanga also got positive reviews by the critics.

Philanthropy:
Mahesh donates his 30% of his income to charities but he doesn’t encourage it to be published in media or news. He also joined Farah Khan’s MARD ( Men Against Rape and Discrimination) campaign in 2013. In 2013 he also signed as a goodwill ambassador of the Heal-a-child Foundation which is a non-profit organization whose main motto is to help a child with a cost of medical treatment. In 2014, he donated 2.5million to a CM relief fund of Andhra Pradesh for the reconstruction of the area destroyed during Hudhud. He also adopted Burripalem, a minor panchayat in Tenali and a village in Mahbubnagar district mainly to address the basic needs such as potable drinking water, better roads, and drainage systems.
