Tatineni Satya is an Indian Filmmaker who has worked in the Tamil and Telugu film industry. He completed his schooling in Chennai and college in Loyola College, Chennai. He is the grandson of film director Tatineni Prakash Rao, who was active from the 1940s to the 1980s in the Telugu film industry.
Career:
He joined David Dhawan as an assistant for Jodi No.1 [2001] and continued to work with him for eight further movies. He then worked as an assistant for a Tamil movie, Kanda Naal Mudhal [2005] in the direction of Priya, before starting to prepare his own scripts. Satya’s script was about psychotic roles, and having seen Jiiva play similar psychotic roles in [2007] Katrathu Thamizh and [2005] Raam, he was not keen to stereotype Jiiva in such characters. Choudary offered him the chance to begin his career instead of making [2010] Bheemili Kabaddi Jatttu, a remake of the successful Tamil movie, [2009] Vennila Kabadi. He moved to Hyderabad and started auditioning for new actors and doing demo shoots for the roles in the film. The shooting of the film was started in the month of August 2009 and finished by 2010 January. The movies, starring Nani and Saranya Mohan, garnered critical and commercial acclaim.
In 2012 his next movie Shiva Manasulo Shruti was also a remake of a popular Tamil movie [2009] Siva Manasula Sakthi. He directed the Telugu remake of another popular Tamil movie Mouna Guru [2011] Shankara which began production in 2014 but had a delayed release in 2016 and went unnoticed. In 2015 he began working on a bilingual thriller movie produced by and starring Sachiin J.Joshi titled Veedevadu in Telugu and Yaar Ivan in Tamil. The movie took two years to complete production, with actress Esha Gupta, Kishore, and Prabhu amongst others working on the movie. It opened to mixed reviews in 2017 September.
