Mahesh Kathi was born in the Chittor district. He is a controversial film critic and actor working in Telugu movies. He appeared on the reality TV show Bigg Boss Telugu and he studied film theory at the Hyderabad Central University. Mahesh Kathi is a communications graduate who worked with UNICEF, World Bank, save the children and the Clinton Foundation.

Career:
Mahesh Kathi started his career with Edari Varsham, based on Devarakonda Balagangadhara Tilak’s story Vooru Chivuru Illu, which was the first crowdfunded short film in Telugu. He was a co-writer of the movie Minugurulu the first Telugu script to be preserved in the Oscar Library’s Permanent core collection and the first Telugu movie to contend for the Academy Awards’ best feature movie [2014]. In 2015 his next movie, is romantic comedy Pesarattu, he used flow can technology popularized by Ram Gopal Varma. He played a small role in the movie Hrudaya Kaleyam. His movie reviews for the Telugu channel 10TV were controversial.
In August 2017, he appeared in season 1 of the Telugu reality show Bigg Boss, hosted by Jr.NTR, telecasted on Star Maa. His latest movie, Eglise Tarajuvvualu, broaches the need for developing scientific temperament among children. Mahesh had a long battle with Pawan Kalyan’s fans which stared when the latter took offense to his comments against their star on a TV show. On 9 July 2018, he was banned from entering Hyderabad for a period of 6 months by the Telangana Police for allegedly making derogatory comments against Lord Rama and Sita which hurt the sentiments of people.
