Personal Life:

K.V.Anand was born on 30 October 1966, Park Town, Chennai, Tamil, India. His Father Venkatesan and Mother Anasuya Venkataraman. His childhood days were spent in Pulicat and he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from DG Vaishnav College in June 1986 followed by a Master’s degree in Visual Communications from Loyola College, Chennai. During his college days, he participated in annual trekking expeditions in the Himalayas. K.V.Anand participated in inter-collegiate, state, and national level photography contests and his visual images earned him numerous photography awards.

Career:

K.V.Anand worked as a freelance photojournalist for leading Magazines and Newspapers such as Kalki, Today, India, Illustrated Weekly, Aside, and other national publications. Within a short period of time, Anand phots were published in more than 200 magazine covers and had taken photos of 10 Chief Ministers in close quarters. He met cinematographer P.C.Sreeram and expressed his interest to work for him as an assistant Cinematographer. Anand joined him, serving as an apprentice for Sreeram’s movie such as Gopura Vasalile, Meera, Amaran, Devar Magan, and Thiruda Thiruda.

Anand’s first Tamil movie was the romantic drama film Kadhal Desam [1996], which also won critical acclaim for showcasing Chennai in a futuristic mold. He also teamed up with director Shankar for the production of the political thriller film [2000] Mudhalvan, winning appreciation for his experimental camera ramping and the general grandeur. He has wielded the camera for 14 movies in languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Hindi. He then turned a movie director with Kana Kandaen [2005], and his second movie turned out to be a blockbuster Ayan [2009], an action entertainer set on the backdrop of the Indo-African drug smuggling trade, with Suriya and Tamannaah in the main lead roles. In 2011, His third directorial film Ko, starring Jiiva, Piaa Bajpai, Karthika Nair, and Ajmal Ameer released to a very positive response from the media and the public.


His fourth directorial venture saw his collaboration with Suriya again in Maattrraan [2012], and was inspired to make the movie after watching a documentary about the conjoined twin's Chang and Eng Bunker. His fifth directorial film Anegan [2015] and the film was released on 13 February 2015. Later Anand planned to make a script for Vijay by the same for Dulquer Salman. Moreover, the project has been delayed and Anand planned to make a script for Kamal Hassan after his forthcoming film of Vijay Sethupathi starrer project [2017] Kavan.
